Docking Bays allow Ships to dock within the Interactable Base and control the traffic to and from the station. Docking Bays can be used privately by the owner or be enabled for Public Use with a Fee based system. Each Docking Bay has one or more doors which determine the size of the ship that can enter the docking bay. Docking Bays have three main functions: Ship Storage, Active Interactions, and the Interaction Queue.
When building a docking bay, the size of the facility determines the maximum size of the ships that can be stored within the docking bay. Any ship whose dimensions do not fit within the docking bay cannot be approved for docking.
A docking bay can have any number of ships within its own internal storage, so long as the sum of the volume of all ships does not exceed the volume capacity.
Docking bays must have externally facing area applied to the room that is built for them. The external facing area and direction of the externally facing side of the facility determines the size of the door. Doors have two dimensions, and therefor can allow any ship to pass through so long as the lesser two of the three dimensions of the ship can fit inside the dimensions of the door. In practice, this means that a a very long ship needs only a door that can fit its cross sectional area.
