A Heat Concentrator is a stackable item required to build a Fincture, which is used to turn processed ore into forged metal. The heat concentrator determines both the max temperature of the Fincture and, along with the size of the heat concentrator, will determine how quickly it is able to smelt ore into forged metal.

Building a Heat Concentrator is conducted inside an Engineering Facility using an Assembly Array. There are two types of heat concentrators you can find in the build menu. The Construct Metal Heat Concentrator will use either forged metal or infused forged metal for its housing material. The Construct Stone Heat Concentrator will use processed ore for the housing material.
There are three Variables that you can change or adjust; two of which are input items.
The Max Temperature of the Heating Concentrator will never equal the melting point of the material input in the Housing Material. Max Temp appears to be somewhere around 97% of the material's melting point. Which makes sense, else your heat concentrator itself would melt.
Because you cannot use an ore to create a heat concentrator that can then be used to smelt that same ore, the general work around is to use infused metal as once infused the boiling point of the metal can be changed.
