Logistics Hubs enable logistics jobs within a Base or within any Connected Facilities. These multi-room facilities enable players to move cargo and ships around using Logistics Drones. Logistics Hubs also serve as a facility that can Install Equipment into any connected facility.
There are multiple jobs in Celestial Frontier that allow players to move cargo from one facility to another. In each job, players must leverage a Logistcs Hub that is connected to both the source and destination. Typically this is selected on the job action interface of the related job. When installing equipment, the equipment source Cargo Bay and the destination facility must be connected to the logistics hub. In the case of transfering cargo between cargo bays, the cargo bays must both be connected to the logistics hub.
When moving cargo between any two facilities, the work is always completed by Logistics Drones. Each unique drone that is installed has a specific Volume Capacity, power, thrust force, and maximum acceleration. The amount of time required to move cargo is entirely dependent on these values. Increased volume capacity reduces the number of trips. Increased power, thrust force, and maximum acceleration allows trips to be completed faster.
Logistics drones transfer cargo based on their volume capacity, but will always be able to push an entity that has a larger volume than itself, but it will only ever push one entity on any trip.
Logistics hubs are capable of moving ships around as well as cargo. Ships can be moved between connected Docking Bays, Shipyards, and Hangars. When moving ships, multiple logistics drones work together to move the entire ship. Their combined power determines the duration of the transfer job.
Players may install equipment in any facility using a Logistics Hub that is connected to the destination facility. When using the equipment installation job action screen, players can select which logistics hub to use. At this time, only logistics hubs that are connected at the current moment of time will show up as available to be selected.
When installing equipment in a facility, the work is always completed by Construction Drones. The construction drones have a specific amount of Constructoids, which units of construction work per second.
Future Plans: In a future state, construction jobs will also have a varying size, which should enable some construction work to be completed more efficiently by larger or smaller drones. Additionally, construction work may have a varying complexity, which would require drones with additional software requirements or processing requirements.
